A commonly used rational approach in drug design involves identifying and isolating a protein of interest, elucidating its structure and then designing molecules and/or antibodies that regulate its activity.

In comparison with the ever-increasing understanding of the structure/function relationships of proteins, the structure and functions of biological cell membranes have largely been overlooked until very recently. Our new understanding of these structures has opened the way to develop new alternative therapeutic strategies that may offer significantly improved treatments for some diseases. Whilst ORIL is focussed on oncology products, this novel technology opens new avenues to treat other diseases where there is an unmet clinical need.
